As always Anne and Peter will host the meeting at The Pink House, 8279 Princes Highway, Central Tilba. The meeting will include an assessment of the successful Tilba Growers Market and how we progress the project from here on. We will also discuss the presentation package being developed by Caroline and Ros. As always everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you all there. The first presentation is on February 12th. I will bring some hard copies with me. Some points to note: 1. The version attached is suitable for community groups. We would need have different versions for primary schools, secondary schools and for business or govt groups. 2. This draft version does not include any discussion opportunities or workshop activities. These would be added according to the time that is available to us and the nature of the audience. 3. We've had to make some assumptions about the process we will be using to develop the local Energy Descent Action Plan (EDAP). 4. We need to include some contact names and phone numbers. All of these things to be discussed. Regards, Carolyn -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I guess if I could make just one suggested but important item left out in the frame you talk about the EDAP. That is when developing these strategies for food security, transport, waste management etc, its the application of David Holmgrens 12 permaculture design principles that act as the template and checkpoint for understanding if your solution is sustainable. You need a measurement and a deep knowledge of these principles that lead you toward EMERGY equating. EMERGY mesaures everything by joules, that is the energy produced from the sun. The sun is the sourse of all energy on Earth. This leads you toward the Earth Stewardship scenario and solutions for an energy descent future rather than say....a tehnology solution to everything. When I visited Janet Millington on the Sunshine Coast last year, she gave me a look at a draft of the EDAP they are preparing for their council. That document preceded them joining Transition Towns as Janet and Sonya led a 14 day course titled - 'Time For An Oil Change'. That course was developed using Holmgrens book -' Permaculture - Principles and Pathways Beyond Sustainability' as the text book. Rob Hopkins did much the same when he led that 2 year permaculture course in Kindsale that was the seed for Transition Towns. Rob found out about what Janet and Sonya were doing and got in touch and invited them to join the Transition Towns movement, which they did. Hope this helps kind regards John Carolyn Wells wrote: > Dear TTT+ friends > > Attached are the presentation notes that Ros and I have put together > for presenters who are talking to community groups about TTT+ > > We hope that you might have time to look at them before the meeting > tomorrow afternoon so that we can get some feedback. The roster is a good idea. We agree the markets are a great way of promoting TTTplus and getting new members. The markets have brought out the local producers and the local community come early to buy. There was a meeting after the markets last Saturday to discuss the ongoing management of the markets. Annie [formerly of The Teapot with Trevor promoted the idea of the Growers Market originally]. remains the contact to organise a table. She organises the opening of the hall, collecting the money for each table [$10 which goes to the hall] and organising the clean up of the hall. The meeting discussed insurance issues. It was confirmed that at other markets you can not have a stall unless you have insurance. TTTplus as a member of SCAPA has insurance. It was agreed that persons who have a table will clean up their area. Annie will remain the contact person and the greater involvement of those persons who have a table will be a matter for future discussion [eg some of things discussed were an additional contact person if Annie not available, persons involved in the market take some responsibilty for advertising, letters to paper etc] The Market is a LOCAL GROWERS MARKET. The empasis is local not on-selling.The halls are not available on 7 March and Easter Saturday and the market day may be changed to the Sunday. The market is back to BIG HALL. The TTTplus table is available to any TTTplus member who has something to sell . As the intention is to have a Table at the market we must always have something to sell.A person who is rostered on should be at the Big Hall by 7.30am to claim table and set up and the market closes at 12 mid-day There is a short summary of what TTTplus is about is available and is kept on the table and a list should be available where new members can sign up. However,we can use a smaller table at a cost of $10 but the rostered person on from TTT plus will need to advise when they come [at 7.30am ] whether a smaller or larger table will be required. So that the rostered person can advise the organisers, persons wanting to sell from our table should advise the rostered person during the week so he or she can advise what size table will be required. The more members of TTT plus who can sell from the table the better as it would be nice to retain the big table. Most of us make virtually nothing from the exercise and increasing the cost by 50% is really a bit much. I have recently joined (but not started trading as yet) and the information below was taken from the website http:// thebegavalley.org.au/6450.html Jo LETS go to MARKET CANDELO MARKET Bega Valley LETS has a Stall at the Candelo Markets on the 1st Sunday of each month. You can sell anything you want for Sapphs or cash or a mix. You can BOOK A GOOD SPOT. To CONTACT BVLETS to BOOK A SPOT or call numbers below. A booking is ESSENTIAL We have 4 Spots available, 2 are taken already ......... "First in, best dressed" To book a Spot or call Brian on 6492 4382 or enquire via the Contact Us form. LETS - The broader vision Bega Valley LETS is part of the world wide Community Exchange System Network with exchanges in 13 countries. The CES Network uses an online software administration system. There are some differences between the philosophies of traditional LETS and CES. CES is not LETS but LETS groups can use the CES software as it is the same zero-sum accounting system. Many LETS groups are successfully using CES and carry on the same way as before. However, if you make full use of the features of CES you can go way beyond LETS. Traditional LETS groups in the main see themselves as 'clubs' consisting of a small community of people who wish to trade with each other without using the national currency. Mostly the members are driven by a desire to build community and do not promote broader 'political' motives. As they are usually totally dependent on a central administrator they are for practical reasons never able to grow to a size of much more than a couple of hundred members. CES on the other hand has a much broader vision. The CES Network is disturbed by the socially destructive consequences of *fiat money and fractional-reserve banking. We are concerned about the consequences of spiralling economic growth - global warming, resource depletion and environmental destruction. We are fearful of the consequences of Peak Oil. All of these stem from the dysfunctional nature of our national money systems. For these and other reasons we are trying to 're-invent' money and create a new more healthy money system suitable for the times ahead. While individual LETS members might have the same vision, LETS as a movement does not attempt to 'change the world'! Only by creating a global network of community-based exchange systems will we be able to create a new kind of money, a healthy money that will create a healthy society and help us overcome the burdens imposed by the current unhealthy global money system. * fiat ? noun; 1. an authoritative decree, sanction, or order: a royal fiat ; 2. a formula containing the word fiat, by which a person in authority gives sanction ; 3. an arbitrary decree or pronouncement, esp. by a person or group of persons having absolute authority to enforce it: The king ruled by fiat. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
