Please *email me* with a clear indication that you want to be on the *Bermagui/Tilba/Narooma *list - and it will be done. Mail to ... *geoffreygrigg at thebegavalley.org.au* A mailing list is a great way to 'chat' amongst yourselves - we use quite a few for various projects - and you can search back through archives if you need to. I would suggest we make a mailing list called - * tteuro at australiancommunities.org.au* At this stage the admin group would use that - all other people are best to join the central list so we can share across the region. When it gets too big - we carve it into smaller lists. In our experience this is the best way to start - then you can play with it for a while and decide what you want to do with that experience under your belt. ================================== *TT Euro Webspace * I can also develop a space in the website that you can use to post private and public content - and, over time, build your project online as well as within your group. It would mean selecting one person to be your web editor (which is a lot of fun) - and then I train by phone. The editor can edit the whole site - and also have access to your own private space for archiving notes that may or may not be used publicly. ================================== *National Website * I am speaking with some people in Sydney now - to see if we take on a national TT website support function. This would be a single shared national site with editing in specific spaces for each working group. Great to share the knowledge, experience, events and news features nationally. So will let you know how that goes. My copy came via Anneke's son in Victoria, where his local council is doing a transition project after a similar 2020 planning meeting was held there. The whole book appears to be as well set out as the section we received in the handouts a week ago on the 12 key steps and the 7 but's. I've noticed it is also linked on the setts website under Transition Tools - http://nswcommunities.org.au/1227.html As it appears to be a really excellent resource I'd like to make a couple of suggestions to the steering committee in their initial phase of spreading the word. 1. Send a wish list to the BV library so that the book and any other useful ones can be publicly available to the community. 2. Organise a bulk buy of the handbook at a hopefully good price so that people and local groups can get their hands on it easily. I'd also like to see a link to our transition towns site on thebegavalley.org.au as I had to search back through emails to remember what it was called this morning as a quick google search didn't turn it up easily. Best wishes, Liz PS. I noticed that there was quite a list of apologies for the meeting last Saturday in the mintues. I hope somebody who knows these people is/has contacted them so that they have the opportunity to join this list if they are interested. The domain is http://transitiontown.org.au ================================ *LINK* Once the first group has met I thought it appropriate to post the link far and wide. I have installed 'content repeaters' throughout the South East - so that the link can be posted regionally in a minute. * NEWS* We also have built an RSS news feed system - which we are finalising now so that more content from TT process and their project partners (eg seedsavers) can feed relevant news into the network for people to read as well. *To make NEWS* - for website editors - Just tag content in the *ACCESS *tab in your content editing form using the *News Category* drop down - and voila! *News ...* You can see an* example* of this at work at http://australiancommunities.org.au/resources.html - Choose a the menu topic. This is the test bed for RSS *News and Regional Events* feed - almost ready - just need to add some prettiness. As Transition Towns is a regional site - it can easily feed to RSS readers on the network and and through other websites. ================================== Thanks Geoffrey On Sat, Jun 7, 2008 at 2:39 PM, Liz Worth wrote: > Hi all, > > I have just started reading a copy of 'The Transition Handbook' by Rob > Hopkins.
